1 pm – 1.30 pm International music concert – ‘Brass around the World’
Join the NTU Brass Band for a free concert featuring pieces from around the world. Formed of students, staff and alumni, the band won 4th place in the world’s only university brass band competition, Unibrass, in February!

Why hundreds of thousands of people flee Eritrea, a tiny country in the Horn of Africa?
Meet Ezedin Osman – an MSc student at NTU. Ezedin is a refugee from Eritrea who is living under the protection of the UK government. During this session he will give a first-hand account of growing up under the Eritrean dictatorial regime and the circumstances that forced him to flee his country to seek asylum in the UK, far away from his homeland and family.

Come along to see an exhibition of travel writing, curated by The Centre for Travel Writing Studies (CTWS). The exhibition includes excerpts from popular travel accounts about global destinations, textual selections and commentaries by staff and students in travel writing studies, travel illustrations and ephemera, travel poems by CTWS members and postgraduate associates and recent publications by CTWS members.

Catering and the Environment Team are teaming up join the 90kg Kilombero Rice Challenge. As a result of selling 90kg of fairly traded rice on campus to staff and students, NTU will raise enough money to send one child in Malawi to secondary education. They are aiming high, and are going to be doubling up on the challenge front with aims to fund 2 children’s secondary educations. The rice will be sold as 1kg bags to staff and students throughout Fairtrade Fortnight and will be served throughout the fortnight in all hot food outlets on campus. Find out more.
