For over 300 years, the intermingling of cultures has created a distinct and internationally recognised Caribbean identity. Join Museumand, The National Caribbean Heritage Museum, to experience a taste of the Caribbean through authentic Caribbean food and Museumand’s innovative pop-up exhibition.

Come along to learn about the Sikh belief of ‘langar’ that no matter what your race, religion or social class, we are all equal. Try traditional food and hear more about Sikhism.

12.30 pm – 2.45 pm Laughter session
Laughter sessions are a perfect way to celebrate Global Week and this universal human behaviour to get everyone feeling happy. Join us for a fun, unique experience that will prove contagious. Wear your normal clothes, as you will only be exercising your belly muscles while you laugh. There are three sessions, at 12.30 pm, 1.15 pm and 2 pm. There is limited availability so please book your space.
Goldsmith Music Centre Celebrations
12.30 pm – 3.30 pm Drumming Workshop
Come and enjoy the Global Drum Circle creating world beats and rhythms. Experience the dynamic energy of the drum for wellbeing and world community. There are three sessions at 12.30 pm, 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm. There is limited availability so please book your space.

12.45 pm – 1.30 pm Tai Chi
Learn an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practised as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.

1 pm – 2 pm NTIC does Tango
Students are invited to learn a taste of tango with our instructors. No experience or dance shoes needed – just enthusiasm!

11 am – 12.45 pm Cuban Art, Literature and Culture
Opportunity to learn about the prominence and prevalence of literature and art in Cuba, led by Jenni Ramone, a Senior lecturer in Postcolonial Studies, in the English department. Come and talk to Jenni about her research project, browse through her collection of Cuban literature, listen to Cuban music and to an audio interview with a Cuban bookseller talking about why he loves selling books, see images of Cuban art and see photos from Cuba.

Come along to see an exhibition of travel writing, curated by The Centre for Travel Writing Studies (CTWS). The exhibition includes excerpts from popular travel accounts about global destinations, textual selections and commentaries by staff and students in travel writing studies, travel illustrations and ephemera, travel poems by CTWS members and postgraduate associates and recent publications by CTWS members.

1 pm – 2 pm Caribbean travel writing talks
Attend this round table discussion concerning Caribbean travel writing. Together we can talk about how travel has shaped Caribbean history, society and culture, and consider the significance of Caribbean travelogues within travel writing studies more broadly. This event serves as an introduction and is therefore ideal for undergraduate students who are looking for potential dissertation or essay ideas, or are generally interested in the subject.

Clifton Global Lounge and NTU Film Society invite you to join them for a Disney Movie Afternoon. Every day of Global Week they will be viewing a region-specific Disney Animation.
